Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTION: Assemble and coordinate the development of vessel build strategies with the aim of identifying and integrating all necessary processes to the determination of the most profitable manner to build a specific vessel given current business situations and constraints. Interface with Estimating, Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management and Production for all inputs to ensure accuracy of vessel build strategies. Reports directly to the Senior Build Strategist.


TYPICAL DUTIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.


* Responsible for policies, procedures and personnel related to development and maintenance of Build Strategies.

* Interface with Estimating, Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management and Production for all inputs to ensure accuracy of vessel build strategies.

* Mentor Field Engineers to ensure consistent and efficient interface between Engineering, Supply Chain and Production for Construction Support.

* Provides Yard Capacity resources and constraints for Vessel Construction.

* Responsible to determine the most optimal time phasing for installation of vessel machinery and/or special components.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


* Considerable knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering and practices as applicable to division products.

* Considerable knowledge with aspects of modern shipbuilding including Master Schedules, Product Work Breakdown Structures, Material Requirement Planning, and Detailed Scheduling.

* Good knowledge of measuring devices and tools and the ability to instruct personnel on the proper operation.

* Ability to interface effectively with all levels of personnel, customers, and regulatory agents.


EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Bachelor's degree in appropriate field of study or related areas and extensive experience in construction design and/or build strategy development experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience in AutoCad, Microsoft Excel, Work and Power Point.
