Job Description

Sayres is seeking an Amphibious Mission System Support - Engineering Technician (Senior) with Secret Level Clearance located in Pascagoula, MS.

Responsibilities

This position includes:

  • Provide program technical support to the HM&E Assistant Program Manager (APM) with extensive military ship systems familiarization, and Amphibious Mission Systems and Amphibious Operations.
  • Interface with the System Engineering Manager and Subject Matter Expert on assigned Mission Systems.
  • Responsible for various HM&E technical evaluation efforts related to Well Deck, Flight Deck and Vehicle Deck operations.
  • Responsible for various HM&E technical evaluation efforts related to boat davits, cranes, ordnance stowage and handling, cargo handling, and small boat operations assigned by the Program Office HM&E APM.
  • Acts as Senior Engineer and Test Lead responsible as a witness for Government testing on shipboard Deck systems, Elevators, and various other systems as required by the government customers.
  • Functions under PMS 317/ 377 Program Office and Supervisor of Shipbuilding Gulf Coast (SSGC) for Technical/systems Integration, Production, and Waterfront Testing, providing input toward new shipboard test procedures, validating of tests and demonstration utilizing Quality Assurance and Objective Quality Evidence. Helps in resolution of technical waterfront issues associated with assigned systems.
  • Reviews detail design drawings, shipboard system diagrams, vendor drawings, calculations, test procedures/reports, technical manuals, and purchase technical documents to ensure specification compliance.
  • Performs as a technical engineering expert and consultant and provides technical support between the Contractor, Project Office, and other agencies identifying HM&E Systems and equipment problems, design performance and testing requirements.
  • Represents the APM and SSGC as an expert in the field of HM&E systems in regard to system design reviews, and conferences, providing expert advice in defining and resolving HM&E System engineering issues.
  • Provides certification reports of installation, alignment, and completion of test and checkout programs to SSGC Project Office, Program Office, NAVSEA, and other organizations as required.
  • Conducts Factory Acceptance Testing witnessing at various manufacturers facilities for the customer on equipment and systems prior to shipping and installation of equipment.
  • Support underway Builders Sea Trials and INSURV Acceptance Trials for assigned systems.
  • Vital to maintaining testing schedule utilizing procedure compliance in support of 10 milestone events through Final Contract Trials and Commissioning.

Qualifications & Clearance Requirements

Minimum Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates

  • 15+ years' experience in providing engineering and testing support.
  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.

Preferred Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates

  • LPD Class 17 previous experience.
  • Experience with DoD/Navy ACAT I Program
  • 15+ years relevant experience in providing engineering support for Amphibious Mission systems and operations, HM&E systems to U.S. Navy shipbuilding Program Office(s)/ operational ships.
  • Active Secret Clearance verifiable in DISS.
